| On October 25, 1954, Jean Drapeau is elected Mayor of Montreal. Seven months later, the new Mayor assembles a group of 25 businessmen to convince them of the need to enrich Montreal with a concert hall worthy of the city's stature and aspirations. In so doing, he gives birth to the Place des Arts project. |
